Located on the southern, wine producing slopes of Madeira, a few kilometres from Funchal and just below the village of Estreito de Camara de Lobos is the elegant Quinta do Estreito. Originally built in 1914, this Quinta was once home to the chief wine producing family of the area. Today, the Quinta has been carefully restored and modernised, but always with the greatest care to preserve the elegance of a bygone era. The original building has been lovingly restored to house the main public areas, the Bacchus Gourmet restaurant, the Vintage Bar and the panoramic library with superb views over the olive groves and tropical plants to the ocean and the Desertas Islands.
