Sete Cidades – Grade 2
Starting at the rim of the Sete Cidades caldeira, this 4-5 hour (13km) walk will descend through the valley towards the village of Sete Cidades, before continuing around the water’s edge itself. During this walk, you will be able to take photographs of both the Sete Cidades lakes (one blue in colour, the other green), as well as panoramic pictures over the lush countryside to the ocean. The difficulty of this walk, if any, is the last stretch which is fairly steep and can be slippery due to the ground surface consisting of loose gravel on top of compacted stone. Transfers from and to hotels in Ponta Delgada are included.

Lagoa Do Fogo – Grade 2
Visit the Lagoa do Fogo (Fire Lake), in the central region of Sao Miguel. Located at the base of a steep caldeira, the Lagoa do Fogo is surrounded by a beautiful protected nature area, home to several endemic plant species. This 5 hour (13km) walk will start in the village of Praia before ascending through the mountains and valleys to the viewpoint at the caldeira rim. After taking time to admire the beautiful scenery, you will return to Agua de Alto beach where you can relax and take a refreshing swim. Transfers from and to hotels in Ponta Delgada are included.

Lagoa Do Canario – Grade 1
This walk will start at the Lagoa do Canario before continuing to the viewpoint over the Sete Cidades lakes. From the viewpoint you will descend to the large village of Capelas on the north coast of Sao Miguel, once an important whaling centre, passing the small lakes of Lagoa Rasa and Lagoa Empadadas en route. Throughout this 2 hour (6km) walk you will be able to enjoy magnificent views over the northern coastline with its picturesque villages and pastures. Transfers from and to hotels in Ponta Delgada are included.

Furnas – Grade 1
The village of Furnas is famed for its botanical garden, hot springs and its large lake. This 3 hour 30 minute (9km) walk will allow to you visit each of these renowned sites. Departing from the Hotel Terra Nostra Garden you will walk through the village towards Furnas Lake visiting the caldeira’s (Hot Springs), in which the traditional meal, Cozido is cooked, en route. The walk will then continue around the edge of the lake before returning to Furnas. Transfers from and to hotels in Ponta Delgada are included.

Faial Da Terra – Grade 2
This 2 hour (6km) walk will commence at the village of Faial da Terra situated on the south east coast of Sao Miguel. From Faial da Terra you will climb to the old village of Sanguinho before entering a small forest which leads to a beautiful waterfall. It is possible to bathe in the waterfall but please note that the water is very cold. The walk will then return to the village of Faial da Terra where you can take lunch before returning to Furnas. Transfers from and to hotels in Ponta Delgada are included.
