Tuesday – SAO MIGUEL
Arrive at Ponta Delgada airport. Meet our local representative and transfer to the Hotel Marina Atlantico.
Wednesday: Free time on Sao Miguel.
Thursday – FLORES
Transfer to Ponta Delgada airport for flight to Flores (1hour 30minutes). Transfer to the Hotel Ocidental.
Friday: Today’s 2 hour 30 minutes (11km) walk departs from the rural road between Ponta Delgada and Ponta do Albarnaz, on the west coast of Flores. This route is bordered by hydrangeas and descends and crosses several rivulets before reaching your first view point. Here you can enjoy spectacular views over Maria Vaz islet, Ponta do Albarnaz lighthouse and, on a clear day, the tiny island of Corvo. Continuing on an unmade track you will then descend towards Ponta da Faja and the quaint village of Faja Grande, where the walk comes to an end. Transfers from and to the Hotel Ocidental are included. Grade 2*
Saturday: This 3 hour (7km) walk starts at the Miradouro das Lagoas and offers spectacular views along the west coast of Flores as it descends to the pretty village of Ribeira das Casas with its gurgling stream. The walk ends at the pool and waterfall of Poça do Bacalhau in Faja Grande – offering the perfect opportunity for a refreshing swim. Transfers from and to the Hotel Ocidental are included. Grade 2
Sunday - CORVO
Transfer to the harbour for a boat crossing to Corvo (45minutes). Transfer to the Comodoro.
Monday: Today’s 1 hour (3.5km) walk starts at Cova Vermelha and follows pretty country lanes lined with old stone dykes to Vila Nova do Corvo – the
only inhabited town on the island. The fabulous views along the way are complemented by the interesting geological formations, a striking rock carving of an Indian head and the profuse covering of junipers on the island. Transfers from and to the Comodoro are included. Grade 1
Tuesday: This 4 hour (5.3km) walk, beginning at Miradouro do Caldeirao, is classified as a difficult walk and, because of the rough surface, high cliffs and sudden fog cover that can affect this area; walkers are accompanied by an
experienced guide. The path will lead you to the summit of the crater before descending on the north coast of the island towards Cancela do Pico. Magnificent views abound: vast, green pastures of the Caldeira; glistening blue waters of the Atlantic; and, on a clear day, the neighbouring island of Flores. Transfers from and to the Comodoro are included. Grade 3
Wednesday – SAO MIGUEL
Transfer to the airport for flight to Ponta Delgada (1hour 40 minutes). Transfer to the Hotel Marina Atlantico.
Thursday & Friday: Free time on Sao Miguel; a chance to explore some of the island’s most attractive sights, go whale and dolphin watching, or try one of our featured walks included in the Walking Holiday on Sao Miguel >
Saturday: Transfer to Ponta Delgada airport for the return flight home.
