Guided walks:

 

TUESDAY – MONTE ESCURO:
This 14km walk starts by the Monte Escuro volcano at a height of 780m. As the trail continues the scenario changes, allowing you to appreciate long distance views over the island and the magnificent Lagoa do Fogo. The walk ends by the church of Nossa Senhora da Paz, a pilgrimage site that offers beautiful views over the village of Vila Franca do Campo and the islet of Vila Franca.

WEDNESDAY – LAGOA DO FOGO:

This 12km walk takes place in the south-central area of Sao Miguel. A part of this walk is done along a ‘Levada’ and along this path you will see well preserved species of the native Azorean flora. The high point of the walk is the arrival at Lagoa do Fogo, located at 575m and is surely one of the most beautiful lakes of the Azores. This lake, bordered by an incredible landscape occupies the bottom of the caldera of the volcano of Agua de Pau.

THURSDAY – GAITEIRA/FURNAS:
Furnas is one of the most exotic areas of Sao Miguel. This 7km walk starts in Gaiteira, on the south coast of the island, and takes you to a typical fishing village called Ribeira Quente. Throughout the day you will have amazing sea views and be able take a swim at the beach. After the picnic, you will visit one of the most important fumarole fields in the Azores, take a bath in a natural hot spring and try the assorted mineral waters of Furnas.

FRIDAY – CUMEEIRAS:

This 12km walk takes place in the west of Sao Miguel. It starts by the Nove Janelas wall, a deactivated aqueduct. On this walk we can see some exotic and native species of Azorean flora. Part of this trail follows the water line of the caldera of Sete Cidades, around the twin lakes known as Lagoa Verde and Lagoa Azul. Enjoy amazing panoramic views of the North and West coast of the island.

SATURDAY – SETE CIDADES:

Discover the west side of the island. This 7km walk takes place in an area that is known for its beauty and legends. It starts at the Vista do Rei viewpoint and ends by the lake of Sete Cidades, with some stops on the way to point out some native and exotic species. Enjoy amazing panoramic views of the North and West coast of the island. On the way back to Ponta Delgada there is a short stop at the viewpoint of  Santiago Lake.

SUNDAY – FAIAL DA TERRA:

This 6km walk takes place in the southeast part of the island, in Faial da Terra. On the way we visit Sanguinho, a traditional village that has been uninhabited since 1970. The trail is lined by exotic and luxurious vegetation
from the five continents. During the walk we stop by the beautiful waterfall
of Salto do Prego where it is possible to take a swim.

£47 per adult and £38 per child. Price includes:
