Full day:
Departure from Ponta Delgada (Fibre glass boat)
Meet at 0845 at the marina of Ponta Delgada for a departure at 0900 (transfers are not included). Once aboard, a biologist will give a briefing of the day ahead including the most common species of mammals that you are likely to see. The trip is along the south coast of Sao Miguel where, with the help of ‘look-outs’, you will seek whales and dolphins in the area. Around 12h00 you will arrive at the harbour of Ribeira Quente, a typical fishing village, 20 nautical miles from Ponta Delgada. You will have lunch in a local restaurant ‘Garajau’ serving typical specialities of the island (12h30). After lunch an opportunity to visit the magnificent beach of Fogo, c.800 metres from the harbour, or simply spend time visiting the village. The boat will leave at
16h00 and arrive back at Ponta Delgada around 17h30.
Price is £55 per adult and £27 per child (5-10yrs).
Note: It is advisable to pre-book for whale and swimming with dolphins excursions in August.
